We are delighted to be able to showcase the new Brakes Meals & More campaign video providing detailed insight into the scale of the challenge facing the UK in combating Holiday Hunger for the most deprived children in our society.

It is estimated that the number of children living in poverty will rise to 4.7 million by 2020 unless there is a concerted effort to create a movement where everyone – public, industry, delivery partners and government – pulls together to tackle the problem.

The Brakes Means & More initiative has progressed significantly since its inception in 2015.

The original four clubs in existence has now grown to 122, with the aim of achieving 142 by Christmas this year. The ambition is to have 500 clubs operating at full capacity providing Meals & More activities over the full 13 week school holiday period.

The considerable financial contribution made by Brakes, with additional contributions from their commercial partners like RP Adam, is supported by wider fundraising events. These not only generate money, but raise the level of awareness required to create a movement where everyone works together to tackle the problem of Holiday Hunger.

RP Adam, like many participating commercial partners, are making good progress in helping to set up two Holiday Hunger Clubs in the Scottish Borders. The impact of poverty is very different in rural communities compared to inner cities, with additional issues such as isolation and fuel poverty to contend with.
