The Arpal brand has been visible in Saudi Arabia 40 years. RP Adam’s long term involvement in the Middle East began in 1976, when the company was exhibiting in London, and a chance meeting with a guest from Saudi Arabia led to the company’s Chairman, Geoff Adam, reaching an agreement for the importation of Arpal branded chemicals into the Kingdom. As the first Western business to sell cleaning and hygiene products into Saudi Arabia, the company then set up a new import and trading operation in 1979, under the sponsorship of HRH Price Mohammed Al Faisal Al Saud.
These were pioneering times, and the company was awarded the Queens Award for Export Achievement in 1983 in recognition of its achievements as an outstanding ambassador for UK business abroad. As the business flourished, so did the economic and social development of Saudi Arabia, and it was inevitable that, as part of an active “Saudi-isation” programme, the importation of finished goods would be discouraged in favour of newly established local manufacturers. It was against this backdrop that a long term agreement was signed with Abudawood, one of Saudi Arabia’s foremost trading and manufacturing families, to manufacture Arpal products under licence in Yanbu and to thereafter distribute the products throughout the Kingdom.
The Saudi marketplace for institutional and industrial cleaning chemicals is huge. With a population of over 30million people today, Arpal KSA branded industrial chemicals targeted at the construction, oil & gas, and mining sectors along with maintenance and hygiene chemicals for the institutional sector, with particular focus on floor care, kitchen hygiene and building services cleaning.
Arpal KSA branded products are manufactured in Saudi Arabia by Abudawood Industrial Co. Ltd. License No. 398/S – 16-10-1403H and are sold and distributed exclusively by Abudawood Trading Company on behalf of RP Adam Ltd (Arpal Group).
